The Verdict

Friday broke the broadening story in the index, but not in the internals. The S&P fell 1.09% for its worst week since late June, the Nasdaq dropped 2.14%, semis fell an eighth straight session, and the VIX closed at 19.99. Underneath: the Dow lost only 0.34% and gained on the week, 411 of our 900-name universe advanced, and every top gainer on the board was an energy name. This is still a concentrated AI-complex unwind, not a generalized liquidation. Monday opens with a futures bounce, no domestic catalyst (the Fed is in blackout; NAHB is the whole calendar), and two exogenous wildcards, France and oil. All three live setups survived Friday because they sit on the tape's strong side. The scanner's first production sheet debuts below.

Desk Scenarios

Bounce holds (base case). Semis stabilize after eight down days, the VIX slips back under 19, and the S&P reclaims 7,700: the rotation resumes with energy in front, and the live setups and today's pullback signals get their conditions.

Bounce fails. Friday's lows go and the VIX pushes through 20: the unwind's next leg, with QQQ's lost 50-day area ($725 to $727) as the tell. Cash over dip-buying; the scanner's pullbacks will mostly not trigger, which is the design working.

Exogenous shock. France's spread (143.5bp over Bunds, widest since the euro crisis) widens into Friday's Moody's review, or the Russia sanctions relief behind this morning's oil dip gets denied: risk-off spills into the US open regardless of the domestic tape.

That is the full US calendar: a light Monday by design of the schedule, not by omission. CME FedWatch this morning: October hike odds about 17%, down from 28%; December hike about 89%. Chair Warsh declined to give guidance at the IMF last week.

Major News

Friday's break. The pin failed: SPY closed $763.25 (-1.11%), through the $770 options pin it was supposed to hold. The Nasdaq fell 2.14% for a -4.48% week, its worst since June; the SOX dropped 3.83%, an eighth straight down session, and SOXX lost 11.8% on the week, its worst since March. The day's data gave no cover: industrial production beat (+0.7% vs +0.4%) but import prices ran hot again (+1.1% vs +0.8%), and the 10-year closed at 5.097%. The Dow's week, +0.67%, says the money rotated; it did not leave.

France is the weekend story. Nationwide protests and rioting over living costs, among the worst unrest in years; President Macron addressed the nation Sunday. Monday: CAC 40 -1.38%, STOXX 600 -0.79%, French banks down 2.2% to 2.6%, and the French 10-year spread over Bunds at 143.5bp, the widest since the eurozone debt crisis. Moody's reviews France's Aa3 (negative outlook) on Friday. A European sovereign story is now on the week's calendar whether the desk wants it or not.

Oil relief, headline-grade. Crude fell Monday on reports Washington is pausing or waiving tough new Russia energy sanctions, and Energy Secretary Wright said Gulf flows are back to about 80% of pre-conflict levels: Brent about $108 (-1.9%), WTI about $100.35 (-1%). One caution: Friday's WTI settle prints conflict by contract month ($99.02 front month vs $101.41 November); Brent's Friday settle is consistent at $109.86. The relief is one denied report away from reversing.

China beat, overnight. Q3 GDP +4.5% year over year vs 4.4% expected; industrial production +5.5% vs 5.4%; retail sales +1.1% vs 0.5% expected (prior 0.4%). Fixed asset investment stayed weak at -7.2% year to date. Asia's close was mixed rather than euphoric: KOSPI +0.54%, Shanghai +0.39%, Nikkei -0.62%; Hong Kong was closed for the Chung Yeung Festival.

AI credit: the stock bounced, the credit did not. CoreWeave closed Friday at $61.39, -11.9% on the day and -25.2% on the week; its 5-year CDS set a record at 1,194.5bp on Thursday, and its 2032 notes traded near 79.5 cents (about a 15% yield) on Wednesday. Monday premarket had the stock +1.6%; a louder claim of +6.3% on an unconfirmed report of an Nvidia credit lifeline is circulating in AI-generated roundups and is not verified. What is on the record: Nvidia's Huang said last week CoreWeave needs no backstop, and JPMorgan called Friday's selloff overdone. Oracle fell nearly 10% last week and sits 61% below its highs; no fresh Oracle CDS print was found in this morning's sources, so none is printed (the last verified print, a record 288bp, is dated Oct 15).

Friday's tells: GOOGL slipped under its 200-day average by $0.31, PLTR's -7.22% was the group's worst day and left it $3.46 above its 50-day, and AAPL was the only green name on the board, which is why it is a live setup and not a watch.

Today's Setups: The Live Ledger

No fresh desk sheet in this late edition; the scanner's first production list below is today's fresh page. The three triggered setups from Oct 15 all survived Friday's selloff, because two are energy and the third was the index's only green mega-cap. Stops and targets unchanged.

Today's Signals: The Scanner's First Sheet

The regenerated MarketDly engine makes its public debut. Four patterns from the audited archive (momentum pullback, gap-up hold, breakout from range, cup and handle) scan the S&P 500 and MidCap 400 nightly; signals rank by archive win rate times reward-to-risk (R/R capped at 3), with the pattern factors set to update as live resolutions accumulate. Friday's tape produced six qualifiers, all momentum pullbacks. The page prints what qualifies and never pads to ten.

Method, in the open: pattern factor today is the archive win rate (momentum pullback 55.6%, from 1,185 resolved signals in the full export). Each signal resolves win, loss, or expired against its own printed stop and target within 10 sessions; expired counts as no win. As resolutions accumulate, a Bayesian update blends live results into the factors, so the ranking you see is the ranking the record has earned. Full pattern audit: the Scoreboard below.

CRWV $61.39Premarket bounce on an unverified lifeline rumor while its CDS sits at a record 1,194.5bp. Credit leads; the rumor does not.
PLTR $186.03-7.22% Friday left it $3.46 above its 50-day. A hold there is a setup forming; a close through it is a trend break. Either way, Wednesday belongs to META and TSLA first.
French banksDown 2.2% to 2.6% Monday with the OAT spread at crisis wides and Moody's reviewing on Friday. Event risk, both directions, all week.
OilThis morning's dip is a sanctions headline, not a supply print. The live energy setups carry that headline risk in both directions.

The Scoreboard

Two ledgers, printed side by side, never blended. The legacy product page tracked 663 patterns (651 resolved) at a 61.9% win rate and +0.08R expectancy under its per-setup yardstick (audit Oct 2). The complete signal export received since (Oct 17) covers 3,494 signals, of which 1,903 are closed: win rate 52.3%, expectancy +0.106% per signal, profit factor 1.07, average hold 2.9 days, under the archive evaluator's rules (pattern targets from its flat map, its own stops, 10-day expiry, a trailing stop after +3%). The export is the fuller record and supersedes the page figures for the old system; the gap between the two is the difference between a curated product page and a complete export, which is exactly why this page now keeps one ledger, in public, from Oct 15 forward.

The new ledger. Published Oct 15: 4 setups. Triggered and live: 3 (CVX, AAPL, MPC). Expired unfilled: 1 (GILD, targets surpassed without a fill; an unfilled target is not a win). Scanner era opens today: 6 signals, all momentum pullback, resolving over the next 10 sessions against their printed levels. The Saturday Ledger resolves the full week, every week.
